シリア軍が、同国内の反政府勢力が支配するIdlibに、毒ガスを投下したとの報道があったわずか3日後に、米軍は地中海に展開する軍艦から、トマホークを59発飛ばしてシリアの軍事基地を攻撃した。（60発の予定が1個は失敗したらしい）
これに対し、イギリス、フランス、ドイツ各国は米国の行動を支持し、安倍総理も支持を表明した。
しかし、ロシアは確たる証拠がないとの理由で、米国に対し強く抗議している。当のシリア政府も毒ガス投下を否定している。
さて、どちらの言い分が正しいか、と問う前に考えなければならないことは、何故、米国は確実な証拠を示さないまま、急いで軍事行動に踏み切ったのか、と言う疑問である。
まず最初にやらなければならないことは、国連の安全保障理事会で徹底した調査をして、証拠を確認すべきではなかったのか？
日にちはかかっても、そうすべきであった。何故なら、米国の行為は国際法に違反しているからだ。確実な証拠もないのに、勝手に他国を攻撃することが許されるなら、世界は無法地帯となる。
Idlibは反政府勢力が支配する地域である。ISISのメンバーが入り込んでいる可能性もある。米軍を誘導する目的で、シリア政府以外の勢力が、画策した可能性も十分あり得るのだ。
何れにしても、軍事力を行使するときは、正確な情報を得ることが、他の何よりも優先されるべきで、今回のトランプ政権の性急な行動は、大いに疑問であり、危険な感じがする。
毒ガスで苦しむ子供達の映像を見て、感情的に耐えられなくなって思わず引き金を引いてしまったとすれば、超大国の政権としては、失格だ。
ブッシュ政権がそうだった。イラクに大量破壊兵器があるとの偽情報を信じたがために、イラク戦争に踏み切った米国は、中東を破壊しまくり、今日のISISが台頭する遠因を作ったしまったのだ。
大量破壊兵器は存在しないことがわかったブッシュは、イラクを民主主義国家にするための戦争だ、と途中で目的を変更するルール違反を犯し、挙句の果てに我が国を持ち出して、日本が良い見本である、と言ってのけた。
その時の米政権との類似性に言及して、プーチン大統領はスプートニクのインタビューで、今回のトランプ政権の危うさを指摘している。

プーチン大統領の指摘は明快だ。

全く同じようなことが今回起きている。そして、同盟各国が同調している・・・我々は、以前もこのことを目撃した。」
トランプ大統領は、内政問題で失政を繰り返して支持率は低下している。それを挽回するために、戦争を仕掛ける、ホワイトハウスはそのようなことを躊躇なく実行してきた。
もしトランプ政権にその疑いがあるとすれば、この先核戦争が起きる可能性が高くなる危険性も、我々は覚悟する必要があるかもしれない。
